Basmati Rice Recipe


  • 3 cups basmati rice ( light colour, pussa, white, parboil )
  • 4 chopped onions
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 7 cloves whole
  • 3 teaspoon whole cumin
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • ¼ cup olive oil


Preparation Method

Rinse the rice and let it rise in water for 1 hour.

Fry the onions over low heat until cooked through. Before the end stir and add cumin and cloves.

On low heat add rice, fry for 2 to 3 minutes until the oil mixed well with rice. As you stir, add 1 teaspoon onion powder.

Add 4 ½ cups of water in a pot. Once the water boils, put the all the ingredients together and add 2 pieces of cinnamon stick.

Cover the pot and cook over low heat for 20 minutes.

Before serving, stir the rice for best flavor
